Firing the kiln has always been a family affair, but now the kids are older and are able to help.  They anxiously await the early Sunday morning alarm at 5am, their Carhartt jackets and overalls waiting, their cereal prepped the night before (sans milk).   All they can think about is side stoking (what you see in the photo here), waking us at 2am to remind us to wake up when the alarm goes off.  It's pretty fun to do this as a family, and someday I know they'll see it as a chore.  This kiln has been so reliable and low-stress for us, which is such a blessing, so allowing the kids to do "dad's job" is rewarding rather than stressful.

We are closing out another year, which is really hard to believe.  We count our blessings as we think back on all that has happened this year.

We hope that you and your family, whether near or far, have a wonderful holiday season....and that you'll consider your local artists when purchasing holiday gifts for your loved ones.
